With the Hallow App’s Pray40 Challenge, we’ll walk through the life-changing, spiritual classic He Leadeth Me, written by Fr. Walter J. Ciszek, S.J. Fr. Walter, a Jesuit priest and missionary, was imprisoned for over twenty years in the Soviet Union, first in solitary confinement and then in a Siberian worker camp. Amidst some of the most brutal conditions imaginable, Fr. Walter underwent a profound spiritual journey. Inspired by Fr. Walter’s writing, we’ll spend time each day prayerfully seeking a refreshed humility and hope in Christ, who laid down His life for us, as we journey through Lent.
JOIN PRAY40 NOWWHAT TO GIVE UP FOR LENT
The point of giving something up, of fasting, is to cultivate the inner life. When we fast, we realize how truly dependent on God we are. In the two lists linked below, there are several ideas for what to give up but also several ideas for life-giving habits to take on. We encourage you to choose one from each list!
LENTEN IDEASMass Times
Mass is the central act of worship in our Catholic Faith. Come to Mass is to spend time with God and receive his graces. The name ‘Mass’ comes from the final blessing, when said in Latin. ‘Ite missa est’ means “to send out” as Jesus Christ sent his disciples out to the world to take his teaching to them.
